About the Orange Beach Billfish Classic
The Orange Beach Billfish Classic was formed in 1996 for the express purpose of providing financial support for organizations that speak effectively for all recreational fishermen. The OBBC quickly became a top event on the Gulf Coast tournament circuit and serves as an important fundraiser for The Billfish Foundation. Over the years the OBBC has donated over $675,000 to The Billfish Foundation and other conservation organizations. The OBBC is the world's largest tournament donor to The Billfish Foundation with 100% of all net profits donated to qualified 501(c)(3) conservation organizations.
Since 2013 the Wharf Marina entertainment complex has hosted the Orange Beach Billfish Classic. The fishing teams enjoy the Wednesday night Kickoff Party with dinner, an open bar and live music while participating in the Optional Cash Awards "Pot Party". After leaving Perdido Pass at noon on Thursday, fishing begins and continues until the fish are brought in to weigh before the crowds at the heart of The Wharf entertainment complex on Friday and Saturday night. The tournament comes to a close Sunday morning with the Awards Breakfast featuring shrimp and grits and a Bloody Mary bar.
The Orange Beach Billfish Classic kicks off the 2018 Gulf Coast tournament fishing season and is the first of the five Gulf Coast tournaments qualifying for the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship Series
